NEW MUSIC: Britney Spears feat. R Kelly - Till The World Ends (Remix)

One of the best things about Mr R Kelly is that he can be counted upon to jump on a remix of every hot song out, adding his own unmistakable touch to it. The latest such remix is his twist on Ms Britney Spears biggest American radio hit, "Till The World Ends", to which is added a new verse and extra ad-libs courtesy of Mr Kelly.

Enjoy below:

NEW MUSIC: Guinevere - Crazy Crazy

Debut single from newcomer Guinevere, who promises to create as huge a storm in the music industry as her mythological namesake did in the Knighthood of the Round Table. Whilst Guinevere and "Crazy Crazy" are easy to dismiss as yet another 'edgy' electro-pop offering to be filed next to the likes of Wynter Gordon, Natalia Kills, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Gaga, etc etc., what makes me eager to hear more material from her is a perceived vocal resemblance to Beverly Knight (imagine what she might sound like if she were ever to make this kind of music) and Sabrina Washington of Mis-teeq fame.

With production credits from Cirkut (Britney Spears), Brian West (Nelly Furtado), Arthur McArthur (Drake), Kevin Rudolph (Lil Wayne), Pilzbury (Danny Fernandez) and Ari Levine of The Smeezingtons (Bruno Mars, Cee-Lo, Flo-Rida) her debut LP is definitely one to look out for.

Enjoy the expletive-laced "Crazy Crazy" below:

MUSIC VIDEO: Chipmunk feat. Trey Songz - Take Off

"Take Off", featuring R&B crooner Trey Songz, is the fourth single to be lifted from British rapper Chipmunk's sophomore LP "Transition". The album has endured a rocky promotional campaign and mixed commercial reception - whilst second single "Champion" (ft. Chris Brown) was a big hit, peaking high on the charts at #2, first release "Flying High" fared terribly (missing Top 50 altogether) and "In The Air" (ft. Keri Hilson) didn't do much better, barely scraping into the Top 40.

Be that as it may, Take Off's video is now out and can be seen below. Hopefully the video and being play listed on Radio 1 will be sufficient to propel the song towards a Top 40 placement.

NEW MUSIC: Bobble Head - Can't Get Enough

"Can't Get Enough" is the latest from Denver-native DJ Bobble Head, interviewed by FOTP not long ago (view LINK). Without a doubt his hottest track...thus far! Check it out below:

MUSIC VIDEO: Travis Barker feat. Busta Rhymes, Twista, Lil Jon & Yelawolf - Let's Go

Even with the imminent reunion of Blink 182, drummer Travis Barker continues to promote his solo record, with a new music video dropping today. The visual accompanies the single "Let's Go", which features rapid-fire verses from rap superstars Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne, relative newcomer Yelawolf and the King of Crunk, Lil Jon.

"Let's Go" is the sixth music video lifted from Travis' debut LP "Give the Drummer Some", which peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 upon it's release back in March, and precedes Blink 182's reunion-comeback album out later this year. Enjoy below:

NEW MUSIC: Cher Lloyd Album Preview

Any early musing as to whether Malvern, Worcestershire-grown girl Cher Lloyd would be able to pull off a convincing music career out of Pop/Rap fusion have long been dispelled by her awful lead single and clips of other awful songs carrying her name. Insanely deluded assertions from herself and her label regarding the quality and future of herself and her music have only worsened her situation, as did her Twitter mini-breakdown when her lead single was "leaked" (that is, mailed out to every blog imaginable by her team).

Previews of the X-Factor runner-up's debut album have now been posted online. The LP features cameos from Busta Rhymes, Mike Posner, Ghetts, Mic Righteous and Dot Rotten and production courtesy of RedOne, Max Martin and Kevin Rudolf & The Runners

Listen below:

MUSIC VIDEO: Nicola Roberts - Lucky Day (Unfinished)

For whatever reason, an unfinished version of "Lucky Day", the new music video of Girls Aloud songstress Nicola Roberts - pictured above with Keisha Buchanan of Sugababes fame - has been leaked online after being posted by it's director on his personal Vimeo account (ostensibly for the approval of Nicola and her team).

Hitherto nothing but a few clips and live performance of the song had surfaced, so this is also the first listen of the entire track.

Watch it while you can, as it'll likely be taken down so enough.

LUCKYDAY-CONTENT FOR APPROVAL. from STEPHEN AGNEW on Vimeo.

MUSIC VIDEO: Will Young - Jealousy

The slightly erotic visual for Will Young's comeback single "Jealousy" has just premiered on his official Vevo account.

The single is officially released on August 21st, preceding by one day new album "Echoes", entirely produced by Richard X.

Enjoy!

MUST-SEE: Destiny's Child Reunited

Credit to MuuMuse for the pic.

Destiny's Child divas Michelle Williams (currently working on her fourth solo studio album) and Beyoncé Knowles (currently promoting her fourth album) snapped in a candid picture with "sister" and band-mate Kelly Rowland at the latter's album release party in New York city earlier this week.

MUSIC VIDEO: Ellie Goulding - Starry-Eyed (US Version)

British electro-folk superstar Ellie Goulding's conquest of America continues with the premiere of a new US version of "Starry Eyed". The song served as Ellie's second single in the UK (peaking at #4) back in February 2010 and was released as her lead US single almost exactly a year later in February of the present year, being performed by her on her appearance in Saturday Night Live. Since then Ellie has been busy touring all over America as well as making a number of performances on American television.

The song is produced by frequent Goulding collaborator Starsmith, recently interviewed here on FOTP blog.

NEW MUSIC: Amy Winehouse & Britney Spears - Big Fat Rehab (Mash-Up)

As strange as it might seem, this is actually works incredibly well. Enjoy!

MUST-SEE: Kelly Rowland - Behind The Scenes for VIBE Photoshoot

With her third studio album "Here I Am" projected to make the Billboard 200's Top 3 next week with first-week sales in the region of 75,000 - giving her her highest solo entry on the American albums' chart (previous albums peaked at #12 and #6 respectively) - and her single "Motivation" continuing to blow up on American radio (where it recently hit a new peak of #9), Kelly Rowland's stateside career is looking better than it has in a long time. Due to her commitments with UK X-Factor, Kelly has been stuck in England for the better part of the past few months - to the detriment of her US promotional campaign.

Seeking to repair that, Kelly has been in the USA for album release week, notably stopping by BET's 106 & Park video countdown show and on The Gayle King Show on Oprah's network OWN. Furthermore, as can be seen above, Kelly is leaving little to the imagination gracing the cover of VIBE Magazine's new issue.

FOTP's Exclusive Interview with Abi Phillips

Interview by Fantini Blake

There's a reason why the Daily Mail pinpointed seventeen year old Abi Phillips as one of five talented young actresses destined to become tomorrow's superstars. Best known to the general public as the popular character Liberty Savage on British soap opera Hollyoaks, Abi was discovered after sending in her song "Missing You" to the show's production, who not only used the song but offered her a chance to audition for a role on the soap. Her audition was a success, she got the role and promptly moved to her own place in Liverpool, where scenes for the soap are usually shot.

Since then Abi has revealed that, simultaneous to her acting, she has been working hard in the studio writing and recording her debut album. Her debut LP is preceded by hot new single "Summer Sunshine" featuring popular UK rapper Fugative, which I blogged about here back in June. The anthemic summer tune's video was shot in Ibiza and debuted on June 21st, with the single's official release date set for July 31st.

Shortly before Abi and Fugative performed "Summer Sunshine" on T4 On The Beach (the song's first televised performance) I was able to put some questions to her and find out more about her and her music. Check her answers out below!

Hey Abi ! What’s up?

Heyyyyyyyy! Just got back from my last/only rehearsal with Harry for T4 on the Beach :) really excited now!

Your debut single is called “Summer Sunshine” and it’s a proper banger! How did that song come about and what was the inspiration for it?

Why thankyou!!!! :) ... well I wrote it with Sam Gray last summer just after I got back from holiday. When I got off the plane back in England the weather was just RUBBISH and raining :/ as per ... so went to do some writing with Sam about how I wanted to go on holiday as soon as I got back :D

Usually with new artists you get some dodgy low budget videos when they first start out but “Summer Sunshine” video is the money!  Shot in Majorca and straight-up hot hot hot!  What was it like flying out to Majorca to shoot and then being on the set of your very own music video? .
aha! Thank you! It was absolutely awesome, and pretty last minute aswell. I only knew I was flying out like a day before, I thought I
was going to be filming it in Manchester :| .. DEAR LORD! soo I got the call and it was such a good surprise I literally had my bags packed two seconds after… wheyy!  It was so amazing out there, I had such a great team of people around me and the company I was filming with, called Sitcom Soldiers, knew exactly what they were doing. They were all so great and professional - it was an amazing experience! :)

Summer Sunshine” features Fugative, who’s been around for a minute and is generally tipped to be the next big thing in UK rap. What was he like?

I met him for the first time like the night before I did the video, ha! So I was pretty nervous! but there was nothing to be nervous about because he was really friendly and laid back! Got on really well! Great fun, and he's awesome at what he does :)

Do you call him Fugative or Harry? Or something like Fuge, Hazza, Henry?

I call him Harry at the moment ... I don't think he'd react well to me calling him Henry.. but might do it anyway just to annoy him :) ha!

You co-wrote “Summer Sunshine” with Sam Gray, who’s also really talented. What was he like to work with?

He is absolutely amazing! Incredibly talented! ... We get on so well he's exactly like me... but the male version! He's like my brother (without the arguments!)... It's so easy to write with him, [it] just comes really naturally.

What can we expect from your first full length LP? Would you be interested in doing some more collaborations?

A mixture of everything really! because I love to dance so I have some really good dance songs in there. I love singing acoustic songs, but I think there will be a bit of everything for everyone in there ;).. Yeah definitely up for doing collaborations!

In addition to singing you’re also an actress on TV show “Hollyoaks”, which is a pretty huge deal. How did that gig come about and what’s it like living away from home?

Yeah extremely huge! :) Well.... I sent in a song I wrote for the storyline when Steph (Carly Stenson) had cancer which was a really sad song. It got chosen to be played on the programme, long story short I got asked in for an audition for a new character who was also a singer so fitted pretty well! :).. My mom comes everywhere with me, so it's pretty easy, but we leave my dad (Rich) and my sister (Jess) on their own to fend for themselves .. oh well! :D

When did you first decide you wanted to be a singer-actress and how easy was that dream to pursue?

I always wanted to be a singer since the age of five :) I started doing live gigs at the age of 12 and started writing my own songs at the age of 14... it just went up from there! :)

Is it hard dealing with fame and notoriety at such a young age? Does it become harder to know who to trust?

Well I'm working my way up to that! :) .. I have a few very close mates and a wonderful family who I trust, and that's the way I like it.

What advice would you give to other young girls out there wanting to follow in your footsteps?

My advice is GO FOR IT! Don't hold back, and try and get out there at every given opportunity as that's the only way people are going to hear you! :)

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given and the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?

Hmm I've always been told to keep my feet on the ground and take everything in my stride, everybody has knock backs but in this industry you have to be tough and just keep going! not everybody's going to like you, sometimes you just have to accept that :)

Who would you cite as your main musical inspirations?

I come from a musical family, there is literally not one person in my family who doesn't play an instrument so they really inspired me, but I really love Stevie Nicks, Adele, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding .. I also love the Eagles ballads (especially 'Heart of the Matter', which I do a cover of).

What do you do when you’re not acting, singing or flying off to Majorca to shoot music videos with rap hotties?

Hmmmmmm.... I keep fit alot of the time, because I used to be a chunky monkey when I was about 12, so I have to work hard to keep the weight off. I love running because it's a great time to think, in my spare time I love writing songs and spending time with family and friends :)

What is your personal sense of style and main influences in terms of fashion?

I don't really have one to be honest, I just wear whatever I like and whatever suits me. I like wearing shorts and stuff to show my legs off. There is a length which just doesn't suit me, just above the knee. It makes me look like I have been dressed by my Gran.

What five songs are must-haves on your current personal play-list?

Errm……I love dance songs at the moment because it is the summer and they get me into the party mood. Probably "Dirty Talk" Wynter Gordon, "A-Team" by Ed Sheeran, "Mr Saxobeat", "Changed The Way You Kissed Me" - Example and Lady Gaga "On The Edge" :)

What’s next for Abi Phillips, 2011 and beyond?

Loads and loads of gigs and festivals. The more the better.

Any final words? Thanks to the great team of people I have got around me, and if you want to catch up with me, follow me on twitter @abiphillipsuk

Big thanks to Abi and her management for making this interview happen!

Abi's debut single "Summer Sunshine" feat. Fugative is burning up on UK radio stations now and is already available for download on iTunes. Be sure to follow @AbiPhillipsUK on Twitter and check out the song's awesome music video below - if you like this week's #1 "Glad You Came", you'll love this.

R.I.P. - Amy Winehouse found dead

British singer-songwriter Amy Jade Winehouse has been found dead at her home in Camden, north London, at 3:54pm. Cause of death is unconfirmed but combined drug and drink overdose are suspected. She was only 27.

Known for her powerful contralto vocals and eclectic mix of genres - notably R&B, soul, jazz - Amy broke through into the public conscience with her smash hit "Rehab", released in October 2006 and featuring rap superstar Jay-Z on the remix. The song's success, coupled with widespread publicity of her struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues sent her two albums to the top of the charts, selling millions worldwide. Her turbulent marriage and divorce with Blake Fielder-Civil, who later involved himself with a transexual lookalike of Amy, also became tabloid fodder. Fans worldwide have eagerly awaited Amy's oft-delayed third album, whose release was put-off various times to allow for her rehabilitation; an attempted comeback tour stalled earlier this year after Amy proved unable to perform her songs adequately, to the disappointment of her fans.

An irreplaceable talent, ripped away in her prime. RIP.

I leave you with my favourite Amy song, "Tears Dry On Their Own", taken from her sophomore album "Back In Black".

EDIT: Amy's last ever performance, "Mama Said", only two days ago, with god-daughter Dionne Bromfield:

NEW MUSIC: The Saturdays - All Fired Up

Having just premiered on Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1, here is the official lyric video for The Saturdays' new single "All Fired Up". Overly repetitive, yes; surefire smash, also.

FOTP Exclusive Interview with Starsmith

Interview by Fantini Blake

In an incredibly short space of time superstar producer Starsmith's career rocketed from his bedroom to the dizzying heights of Britain's Pop music A-list. Having been instrumental in the crafting of Ellie Goulding's hugely successful debut album "Lights" and produced the original version of Marina And The Diamonds breakthrough hit "Hollywood",  he's gone on to work with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Diana Vickers. Additionally he's signed his own deal, worked on his own music and done remix work for Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Timbaland, Robyn, N.E.R.D., and many others.

This week I had the opportunity to ask him some questions and he was kind enough to take time out from his busy busy schedule to respond. Check out his answers after the jump.

Hello Fin! What's up?

Hello! I'm currently having a Gin and Tonic, listening to a track I've just finished on repeat, thinking about how much I have to sort out tomorrow as I'm moving studio in a couple of days!

Your real name is Finlay Dow-Smith, but you're best known as Starsmith. Is that just your artist moniker/brand-type thing or do you actually answer by Starsmith now?

I ONLY answer to Starsmith now. No, I jest. I always find it a bit weird when friends refer to me as Starsmith, it makes me feel a bit awkward. I guess a lot more people know me as Starsmith than by my real name so I should start getting used to it.

Is there any special inspiration behind the name "Starsmith" or is it just a case of you always knowing you'd be a big "star"?

I see what you did there! I remember sitting in my little dorm room at uni, writing different names on post it notes and sticking them above my computer. There were about 8 or 10 of them, and over a week or so I gradually took them down one by one as I started to hate them. The one that was left was Starsmith; I wish I had a better story than that, but it's true!

Real name, artist name... what would your stripper name be?

Starsmith is a bit of an all round name, I think I could use it for most professions.

What's the biggest diva that you've met so far? What's the most diva-tastic thing you've done yourself?

One person I worked with turned up 3 hours late to a session, and I couldn't get through to them for the whole time. When they turned up they said they had to stop off to get Chinese takeaway. The first thing they did wrong was not pick me up any prawn crackers, and secondly they didn't apologise. It was downhill from there on. I thought that was quite rude.

When I was playing live shows before Christmas, I had a very normal rider, and the only extra thing I'd added was a 6 pack of Orange Lucozade Energy. Every venue for the first 5 shows got it wrong and either got me no Lucozade, lucozade normal, or in the case of the 6th show, Orange Lucozade Sport. I was in need of my daily Lucozade fix and told (asked) the promoter to get me some orange lucozade energy. That's seriously as diva as it gets. To this day, I feel bad about it too.

If you could make any Pop diva Prime Minister, who'd you go for and why?

Cher. I think we all want to see the auto-tuned version of Prime Minister's Questions.

Your career took off in a very huge and very rapid way thanks to your production and writing work with the fabulous Ellie Goulding on her debut album. "Lights" spawned a number of big consecutive hits and an even bigger number of album sales. In fact, it's still selling in a big way with Ellie touring and performing all over in America. But going back to the very beginning, did that whole whirlwind moment ever scare you or just befuddle you how amazingly fast things were taking off?

I don't think I was ever scared by it all; as you said, it was very rapid, and because there was so much going on early last year, worrying was the last thing on my mind. It's been an amazing experience so far. I was definitely astonished, and still continue to be. It may sound very contrived, but I really didn't expect any of this and I am seriously having an awesome time. I still see this as very early days, and I hope people will stick with me to see what else I've got up my sleeve.

You'd only done eight or nine gigs together when the producer from Jools Holland came to see, resulting in Ellie performing on the show. What was the first big thing resulting from the ensuring success to happen that really changed or impacted you/your life/career?

When Ellie was signed, I was given an advance to produce the album, and that was a life changing moment. It meant I could move out and set up my own studio, live on my own, and work full time on what I loved doing. For someone who had only graduated from uni 6 months previous, that was as big a gift as you could imagine.

Was it hard balancing the insanity of "blowing up" in the music industry and becoming known as THE Starsmith with the insanity of university living, endless deadlines and essays ad infinitum? Did people suddenly start treating you differently or assuming you were now a multimillionaire?

When Ellie and I started working together whilst I was still at uni, we were just doing it for fun and there was no monetary benefit. I had a few remixes here and there but they were very very low amount of money, most of the time free, and whatever I did get would go straight back into buying new gear for my 'studio'. Saying that though, the last 4 months of my degree were the most stressful time of my life so far. Balancing remix deadlines/writing new songs, and final essays worth large chunks of your degree together is not something I would recommend!

How did you first start out with producing and remixing music? What were the first songs you ever properly produced and the first you properly remixed?

At the beginning of my final year at Uni I started to panic about what I would do after graduating, and so I started to experiment with remixing. It was only about 2 months after that when I met Ellie, and the first song I ever produced was "Starry Eyed".

What's your songwriting process like? Do you sit down 9-5 and force yourself to write, or do you have to be inspired, or..?

I sit at the computer every day and try and accomplish something, even if it's only 2 hours of work. At the moment I work at home so I can't escape the work element. But I'm moving my studio to a separate space so that I can have more of a routine and hopefully be more productive. I'd definitely say that my best stuff happens when I've had a week of disappointing work days and suddenly everything fits together.

In a relatively short time you've amassed a long list of very high profile, A-list songwriting & production and remix credits. What are you working on at the moment and who's next on the horizon?

I took an 8 or 9 month break from working on my album due to some difficulties that arised at the end of last year. I started working on new tracks for myself about 2 weeks ago and it feels amazing! I've been working with quite a diverse group of people on their projects over the last few months, and although I can't really say who, I feel like I've been finding my 'sound' a lot more over all these different sessions.

What do you wish people knew about you that they don't?

Hmmm, tough question. I'll come back to you on that one.

What's the funniest or most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you?

Again, a tough question! I did have a pretty stupid moment earlier this week actually. I went to the shop specifically to buy Hash Browns, and I paid for them but then left without them, put my headphones back in and walked home. Needless to say they found it very funny when I went back 5 minutes later to pick them up.

Do you have any pet peeves?

Retweeting compliments, people who blag every day of their lives, when you get to the end of a lucozade and it's flat.

Any small/weird things that warm your heart or just make you oddly happy?

When you're DJ'ing and you see someone in the crowd having what looks like the best time of their life - that feels pretty great.

You spent much of last year working on your debut album - you even took time off from your songwriting and production for other people. You had about 15 songs finished, were going to support Example on tour, and then your label had a huge U-turn about the whole project...Things went awry and you decided to walk away. What was all that like and where are you at now with your solo music?

In all honesty, it was pretty shit. It really knocked the wind out of me. I didn't write anything for about a month, and that's not because I was being emo about it, I was just trying and I couldn't. I felt like I'd let people down and that what I had put everything into, wasn't good enough.

I went into my Publishers office a few days after New year and he basically turned round my whole outlook for the next year and in a round about way, just told me to man up a bit. It really did a lot, but I didn't want to work on anything of my own. So I just focused on working with other people again, and I've been having to play catch-up as I took about 7 months out last year to work solely on my own album.

Any prevision of when we get to hear new solo music from you, music videos, an EP, anything?

Well, as luck would have it, one song I wrote during the album sessions is called "Lesson One", and I made it with Alan Braxe. It's being released on his label on August 22nd; that's the most immediate thing you'll be able to hear that I've made. After that I'm planning to keep releasing stuff, and gradually build back up to an album or whatever it may be.

Which work offers turned down during that working-on-my-own-music period do you regret?

I don't think there are any artists I turned down that I regret, there are definitely a few remixes that I would love to have done though.

As a producer and remixer, you’ve become this big go-to guy for the Pop ladies. What’s your take on male-driven Pop right now – why are there so few male Pop acts out now and which ones (if any) would you like to work with?

A lot of male acts like to do everything themselves, as in songwriting and producing. Most male acts at the moment are boybands or rappers, theres nothing wrong with that though. It would have been incredible to work with Freddie Mercury. Just wow. I'm actually working with a male popstar next week!

What’s your take on the current state of Pop and the music industry now? What do you predict the next big trend or sound to be?

American Euro Dance. I wish it would end. The trashy trance synths and the cheap drum loops will be the end of pop music. It's odd because the industry fails to see that some of the biggest selling albums of the last 12 months have been the ones that haven't followed this 'dance' trend. Look at Adele or Take That. Millions of records within months.

With your own music, who’s your target demographic? Is it hard resisting label pressure to compromise your own vision and chase current trends?

I really don't know about 'my demographic', I think maybe it will become more apparent when I write more songs. For now I'd be happy with anyone listening to them! I've definitely had a couple of instances where labels have desperately chased the euro dance trend at the moment, and I've turned around on the project. Making a load of money really quickly but being hated for what you've created isn't my plan.

What unknown artists out right now would you feature in a "Next Big Thing" or "Names To Watch Out For in 2011" type list?

Charli XCX is great, Hannah Yadi too. Even though she's known, Yasmin will be doing great things before the year is up.

Any final words for the fans?

PLEASE BUY MY NEW SINGLE

Mega thanks to Starsmith and Polly for making the above happen. FOTP will naturally continue to report on Starsmith's career as it progresses from strength to strength.

Starsmith's new solo single is called "Lesson One" and is out on Vulture August 22nd in a digital bundle which includs an extended edit, a song called "Champion" and a radio edit of that too. Below you'll find the music video for "Lesson One", a old but cute little video of Starsmith and Ellie Goulding looking young & cute and a box allowing you to listen to all the songs on Starsmith's Soundcloud. Watch and listen to everything; you'll be better off for it.

NEW MUSIC: Dappy - No Regrets

British rapper Dappy - best known as one-third of multi-platinum hip-hop group N-Dubz - has premiered his new track "No Regrets" on UK radio. The track follows up his two successful solo collaborations with friend and collaborator Tinchy Stryder, "Number 1" and "Spaceship", which peaked at #1 and #5 on the UK charts respectively.

The track - which is definitely a winner - serves as the first single from Dappy's upcoming solo project. The banger features Dappy both singing and vocal, particularly highlighting his vocal abilities, and is replete with Pop-culture-references. The music video has been shot and will shortly be released.

MUSIC VIDEO: Pitbull feat. Marc Anthony - Rain Over Me

Tacky doesn't even begin to describe the sleaze-fest that is Pitbull and J-Lo's ex husband in dodgy suits and even dodgier beards trying to keep up with the young'uns singing about their bodies and women raining over them. Just, no. Marc Anthony stop asking women to "rain" all over you, get it together, put on some weight, don't open your big ass mouth so much and try to get your woman back.

Worst thing is that the ay ay ay's of the chorus are actually quite catchy.

FOTP Exclusive Q&A with Six D

L-R: Kimmy, Pierre, Chantelle, Kieran , Cassie & Levon
When there's six people in a group , it's nigh on impossible not to crush hard on at least one of them. And there's certainly something for everyone in hot new urban-pop, street dance outfit Six D's line-up, which is made up of three sexy boys - Kieran Edmonds, Pierre Angus, and Levon da Silva - and three even sexier girls - Chantelle Bernard, Cassie Macmillan, and Kimmy. Watching eye candy like this simultaneously dance, rap and sing like mofo's makes the whole thing even better.

Having signed with Sony Records last year, they've been busy in the studio with the likes of  A-list producers/hit machines  Wayne Wilkins (Cheryl Cole, Beyoncé, Natasha Bedingfield), Rico Love (P Diddy, Usher, Kelly Rowland) and Jim Jonsin (Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne) working on their debut album. They've also been making a name for themselves as live performers, supporting the likes of JLS and The Saturdays on their recent tours. Additionally, they were recently featured on a few episodes of choreographer and frequent Gaga-collaborator Laurieann Gibson's reality show 'The Dance Scene'.

Unsurprisingly, their debut release is far from disappointing. The insanely catchy "Best Damn Night" is already available for pre-order on iTunes together with raunchy buzz single "2 Seconds" and is released this Sunday, July 24th. This week I had the opportunity to relay some questions to them and find out more about them - check out their answers below!

Hello! How are you?

We're all good thanks!

What's the meaning behind the name Six D? Six Deep, Six Dimensional, Six Dancers..?

ChantelleAll of the above really!! We kind of want to keep it open to interpretation but for us it stands for Six Dimensions. We came up with this because each one of us brings a different dimension to the table, be it personalities, backgrounds, the way we look, our skills, talents etc...But it all comes together collectively and that's what makes us Six D!

For the people out there who might be confused, what ARE you guys? Dancers, singers, rappers? A troupe, a crew?

Kimmy: We are Six D and we're a family! That's the best way to answer it. We are doing something very new. We mix it all, dancing, singing, rapping and we throw a few flips and tricks into the mix too!

Are the rapping and singing duties shared out equally or is it decided on who does each thing best? Is there such a thing as a lead vocalist or lead rapper in Six D?

Chantelle: That's one of the great things about us; we all bring such a range of talents and skills when it comes to our music as well as our dancing. Things are definitely shared out equally...we all sing and some of us rap. I am the lead vocalist and Pierre is the lead male vocalist. We like to harmonise and mix rapping and singing to show all the sides of our personalities through our music

I’ve seen most of you individually cite as influences Beyoncé/Destiny’s Child, Chris Brown and Michael Jackson in a big way on your Tumblr page. What are your other influences as a group and how are all those influences apparent in Six D?

Kieran: As a group Black Eyed Peas are a group we really look up to because they make great music that appeals to everyone and has a positive message too!! Also they used to break dance which I think is very cool!! So yeah we get a lot of inspiration from these people and how hard they work, so we use that to motivate ourselves in being true to who we are and making an image that can be appreciated around the world.

Six D’s debut single “Best Damn Night” is coming out July 24th. What’s it been like to be out there with the Boom Box Tour promoting your very own single, performing in front of people, living the dream so to speak?

Pierre: It's feels great to finally have our debut single coming out! We've been working day in day out to get our names out there so these are very exciting times for us. The Boombox Tour was great; we went round to different cities with our boom box and performed. We were really well received by the crowd and had some fans come to see us which helped make it a great experience.

Best Damn Night” seems to tie together a number of different genres and it works really well. There’s rapping in it, so there’s a definite hip-hop influence, but it’s still Pop enough to work on radio and Electro-dance enough to be played in the clubs. Will single number two have the same kind of eclectic sound, what can fans expect from your upcoming music?

Chantelle: Our music on a whole expresses the same sort of versatility as we do as a band...there is something to suit everybody. We want our upcoming music to appeal to the masses. There will be pop influences as well a little urban flow. We're gonna mix it up a bit! Stay tuned!

Will there be a sense of relief when the song is finally out and you can just sit back at home and relax for a bit?

Levon: There will be a slight sense of relief when "Best Damn Night" is released but it will be more of an exciting time as opposed to relaxing as its the time were we will be most exposed to the public and can show them what we do.

What was it like at T4 On The Beach? Was that the biggest event for you guys so far?

Cassie: T4 On The Beach was AMAZING, such a great day, the atmosphere was buzzing and the sun was shining! We enjoyed ourselves so much, met some lovely people and even got a cheeky visit to the gift tent! Yeah T4 was one of our biggest events so far along side of '2011 Live' at Hanley Park, Stoke and The 02 Arena which was incredible!

Moving on to the album itself, what kind of sounds will Six D be exploring? Is it all in the same vein as "Best Damn Night" and "2 Seconds"?

Levon: The album is very diverse we have slower tracks which show off our vocal ability such as "Earthquake" and "Out of Myself" and we also have tracks like "Love Control" which has some dub step in it and is a very dance inspired song.

Can you share the names of some the producers and writers you guys have been working with for the album?

Pierre: We got to work with some great producers on our album so we're all really excited for everyone to hear it. We've been in the studio with Wayne Wilkins (Beyonce), Stargate (Ne-Yo), Jim Jonsin (Eminem, Lil Wayne), T- Wiz (Chris Brown, Cheryl Cole), Rico Love (Usher). There's something for everyone on our album.

You guys have already shot two music videos, for “Best Damn Night” and “2 Seconds”. What’s the next level visually? More dancing, special effects, foreign locations?

Kieran: Well there is still lots more we want to do visually with our dance moves to also show different styles! We haven't settled on what we're doing next exactly but we're always aiming to impress, so if that means we got to fly to the desert and use matrix style effects then that's what we'll be doing.

You’re all quite young but some of the lyrics in double A-side “2 Seconds” are quite grown up. Do you worry about sending the wrong message, or a message that is too adult, to your younger fans?

Kimmy: Oh don't let our looks deceive you! Were not that young! '2 Seconds' is our edgy track and to be honest it’s all a bit of fun! You can see in the video we aren't playing on the lyrics and in my opinion it feels like a bit of banter, especially when we're performing it!

I imagine your rehearsal schedule to get everything perfect and on point must be pretty crazy. What’s a typical day like in Six D?

Kieran: Yeah we train very hard when we're learning new routines or getting ready for a music video! Usually doing 8 hours a day for a week in a dance studio. Those are some hard times but it really gets you tight. For example we worked with Laurieann Gibson in LA for our Best Damn Night video and did the same choreography for 3 weeks!! She was so tough on us but it installed a great work ethic. And she works with Lady Gaga and Katy Perry so we knew we were in the best possible hands.

Who’s the messiest in the group?

Pierre: Kieran and Kimmy! I gotta share a room with Kieran so I know! Just ask the girls about Kimmy ha!

The biggest drama queen?

Levon: Chantelle is the biggest drama queen in the group! She really knows how to make something out of nothing haha!!

The bossiest?

Cassie: Haha! I think a few of us can have our moments but I think Kieran's probably the bossiest. Although I think he'd like to say he 'coaches' people!

The biggest flirt?

Pierre: Cassie wins! lol

Who takes the longest to get ready?

Kimmy: Cassie takes the longest, but Chantelle's the longest in the shower!!

Finally - what's the craziest fan experience you've had so far?

Cassie: I think one of the craziest fan moments was when we supported The Saturdays back in February, we performed in Brighton and after we would go meet fans and do a signing. We made our way down to do the signings and when we entered the hall, there was this massive stampede of fans running towards us!! Security had to try and hold them back and make them form a queue! It was crazy but such an incredible feeling to know that they were there for us!

Alright, awesome guys! Any final words for the fans?

Thanks for all the love and support you guys have shown us so far we really appreciate it so keep on supporting us and we will keep entertaining you at the highest level!!
